The Dash
The dash is the line between the day we are born and the day we die. As a photographer, I observe life as it unfolds in the places I visit and among the people who happen to be there. I record ordinary, spontaneous moments—moments that disappear a second after I press the shutter.
In these images, I see people living their lives, living their dash. At the same time, I find myself questioning whether we are truly conscious of how quickly time moves, constantly carrying us closer to the other side of that dash.
The Bible reflects on this idea in Psalm 90:12 (Living Bible):
“Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.”
This raises a question: How should we spend our days during our limited time on Earth? How should we live our dash within a life that is always moving forward?
The answer may be different for each person. Yet at its foundation, it should be lived meaningfully and with purpose—adding value not only to our own well-being but also to the lives of the people we love.
